Lois MacLean was an instructor in the Bar Admission course (subsequently CPLED) for many years. She has spoken at a number of Legal Education Society seminars on wills and estates, and has written a number of papers on estate topics. She is a member of the organizing committee for the 2022 LESA Refresher on wills and estates in Banff.

Ms. MacLean was in private practice until 1994, including criminal defence, family law and civil litigation. She then joined the staff of the Law Society of Alberta as a Complaints Officer where she was part of the team that developed the Law Society’s complaint resolution process. Ms. MacLean joined de Villars Jones in 1998, where her practice focused on wills and estates, mediation, and professional discipline. In 2021 she joined Rand Law and she continues to focus primarily on wills and estates, mediation, and professional discipline.

Lois is an active community volunteer: she has served on the Board of Directors of the Canterbury Foundation, and is the Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese of Edmonton.
