Mr. Rand, practices primarily in the area of family law and professional discipline cases (having had matters with the Law Society of Alberta, The Alberta Teachers' Association, The College of Alberta Psychologists, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta, The Alberta Pharmaceutical Association, The National Hockey League, and the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association). He has also conducted private arbitration work and is available to involve in Rule 4.16 dispute resolution processes.

Previously, Mr. Rand’s practice included extensive involvement in criminal law having conducted a number of jury trials and defended charges including murder and other serious charges. While his practice always included divorce and other matrimonial causes, the increased volume of work in this area caused it to become his primary area of practice since the mid-1980s.

Attended as a Law Society of Alberta representative and observer on at least three occasions where search warrants of lawyers' offices were carried out by police authorities.
